1. Because people dont want to be carrying around merchandise the whole time at stadiums so they put them near the exits so when you leave you can get them and everyone has to pass the entrances and exits so which creates more business.

It's like the lines at amusement parks, they stretch out really far or have lots of turns to ensure that the people interested in riding the ride, aren't blocking people that are just walking by.
